Hamilton at Tennessee Performing Arts Center

Show creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, fresh off his success from his last Broadway show, In the Heights, conceptualized Hamilton for a couple of years before it opened in the Richard Rodgers Theatre in 2015. It was in this opening that Miranda also played the role of Hamilton. The entirety of the Musical, including its stellar cast and spectacular music received extremely regarded reviews from both critics and new fans alike.

The Musical, as most know, is a historical tale that centers on one of the Countries Founding Fathers, but the show takes a new and forward-thinking approach, as seen in the music genres chosen and particularly in its diverse casting. Additionally, the 70th Tony Awards, where Hamilton bagged 11 out of 16 nominations, is a display of its success. Hamilton’s first cast was made up of the actors and actresses, Philippa Soo, Leslie Odom Jr., and Jonathan Groff. Individually, the cast was already filled with both well-known nominees and awardees, but their varied and memorable performances combined brought the Musical to a brand-new level. The creative team, just as incredibly talented, earned Tony Awards for Hamilton. Thomas Kail for Best Direction, Andy Blankenbuehler for Best Choreography, Alex Lacamoire for Best Orchestrations, Howell Binkley for Best Lighting Design of a Musical, Paul Tazewell for Best Costume Design of a Musical, and of course Lin-Manuel Miranda himself for Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical, all stole the show at the 2016 Tony Awards. Additionally, and unsurprisingly, Hamilton also took home Best Musical for 2016. The present cast and production crew in each new entertainment venue where the Musical is on tour brings the same grit and enthusiasm in their nights, with overwhelming positive reviews maintained consistently.

The Musical’s global rise to fame led to opening many doors worldwide for audiences to experience Hamilton. It has continued for the past ten years to perform not just in the U.S.A., but also over in the UK's West End and in numerous venues across Asia. Hamilton’s touring production will be arriving in Nashville throughout June (and on Wednesday 24th June 2026) at Tennessee Performing Arts Center, selling out at one more world-class stage with the unrivaled facilities and sound engineering that rivals even Broadway and West End theaters.
