BACKGROUND
The story written by Jack Thorne takes an amazing life on stage when the play premiered in London’s West End in 2016. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is not just a spin off but a fantastic sequel to the groundbreaking Harry Potter series from J.K. Rowling. We have to admit that the film and novel series weren’t enough to fill our fix for the boy who lived. That’s why it was amazing news that the Harry Potter universe is back with a spectacular stage adaptation. The play also abounds with immense artistry and stunning stagecraft. Spells come to life with jaw dropping special effects. Meanwhile, illusions transport audiences into the world of Harry Potter – floating brooms, books’ pages flipping by themselves, and dementors! The mysteries are endless and you get to watch it at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center!
PLOT
The story takes place almost two decades after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Lord Voldemort was defeated and the magical world went on to live a peaceful life. Harry Potter is now Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic. His son, Albus Severus Potter is entering Hogwarts as a first year student. During his trip to the school through the Hogwarts express, Albus befriends Scorpius Malfoy, son of Draco Malfoy, Harry’s nemesis. Upon entering the school, Albus goes through a sorting ceremony. His father Harry was a member of the Gryffindor house. However, Albus was sorted into Slytherin, the house of his archnenemy Voldemort and Draco Malfoy. Shadowed by his father’s fame and talent, Albus struggles to find his own identity and develops a difficult relationship with Harry. He also finds himself in some great trouble in Hogwarts.
