Okay Nashvillians – get ready, because the ocean is calling and our boat is pulling straight into the Tennessee Performing Arts Center on Thursday, October 23rd! Disney’s Moana Live to Film Concert is rolling into town for one night only, and this isn’t just watching the movie… it’s the movie like we’ve NEVER seen it before. We’re talking the full film on the big screen with a live orchestra and Polynesian musicians playing the entire soundtrack in real time. Yup – every single song, every single wave, every single adventure happening right in front of you, bigger and louder than ever. Imagine hearing “How Far I’ll Go” soaring through the theatre while Moana pushes her canoe out to sea, or “You’re Welcome” blasting with live percussion as Maui shows off. It’s not a recording – it’s happening live, with every beat perfectly synced to the movie. You’ll feel like you’re right there on the journey, sailing across the ocean with Moana and Maui.
And let’s be real – Moana is THAT movie. Released in 2016, it’s the story of a brave girl who refuses to stay on the island when her people need her most. With the ocean choosing her to restore the heart of Te Fiti, Moana sets out on a wild adventure, running into monsters, storms, glowing crabs, and one hilarious demigod along the way. It’s a story about courage, finding your voice, and following the call inside you – and it’s even better when the music is alive in the room.
The music itself is a huge reason why this night is so special. Lin-Manuel Miranda (yes, Hamilton Lin-Manuel Miranda), Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina created some of the most iconic Disney songs of the past decade – and now, they’re performed with live Polynesian drums, chants, and vocals to make the whole thing feel electric. Nashville is Music City, but for this night? The sound of the ocean and the songs of Moana are taking over.
So grab your crew – teens, kids, families, anyone who knows all the words to all our fav songs – ;cause this is going to be one of the best nights of the year for everyone who loves our Disney Princesses. It’s only happening one night y’all, on October 23rd, right here at the TPAC. Don’t miss your chance to see Moana’s story come alive like never before. The ocean is calling, Nashville – it’s calling all of us! See you soon!
